‘Delicious Destinations” of Cincinnati Tour

If you love the Cooking Channel, this is the tour for you. We  retrace the restaurants and enjoy 5 of the foods seen in the show Bizarre Foods Delicious Destinations ‘Cincinnati’.   On this tour, we enjoy a variety of foods that are unique to the city along with a local German beer.  We share the history, the stories and the folklore behind these famous dishes.
This 3 hour afternoon tour is similar to the daily morning ‘Top 10 Sites and Bites Tour’, but features a slower more relaxed pace.  We use the streetcar to ride to Findlay Market.  We return to the park on the streetcar and walk to the next 4 restaurants.  We walk 2-3 blocks from restaurant to restaurant, so wear your walking shoes!
Highlights include a visit to Findlay Market to taste goetta from a 5th generation German meat shop.  We walk along the path of the old Miami Erie Canal (now a parkway) to an old saloon erected over 150 years ago. There we share on the Lenten traditions in Cincinnati which inspired McDonald’s filet of fish. We enjoy the best fish sandwich in town with a tasting of local craft beer.
Next door, we visit a candy shop that hasn’t changed in over 100 years. On our way to our next stop we see beautiful architecture and story high outdoor murals.
We walk to our third restaurant, where we enjoy the World’s Greatest Reuben paired with a crispy deep fried potato pancake.
We stroll through beautiful Piatt park to our next stop, Skyline Chili. Cincinnati Chili is like no other you have ever tasted and you get to choose between a 3-way or a chili cheese dog.
We polish off our culinary adventure with a walk to Fountain Square in the center of town. We enjoy a dish or cone of Graeter’s black raspberry chocolate chip, Cincinnati’s favorite!
Our Cincinnati feast has come to a close. It’s time to catch the streetcar back to Washington Park. Or if you prefer, ride the streetcar a few blocks south to enjoy a view of the great Ohio River.
