Are you ready for a fun filled 3 hour culinary adventure? We meet in beautiful Washington Park in the heart of historic Over the Rhine. This park is bordered by the magnificent Music Hall which has a haunted past. At our first stop, we share the rich history of the city with entertaining stories and old photos of the Queen City of the West.
Our first restaurant is a modern new diner, where we'll enjoy a hearty dish of creamy scrambled eggs with Chihuahua cheese. We pass one of the biggest beer gardens in the area back in the day. We'll talk about the history and the period of corrupt politics, beer and vice in the city.
We head north on Vine Street to an award winning donut shop for your choice of any of the 50 varieties of the best donuts in town. We're in the heart of historic Over the Rhine. Look up at the architecture and feel the energy of the hustle and bustle of the people on the streets.
We walk west to board the streetcar and head south to the center of the city - Fountain Square. Our next restaurant is right across the street inside the the beautiful 1920’s French Art Deco Carew Tower. We'll visit an iconic 50's diner for a step back in time. We'll enjoy a classic breakfast dish or their classic turkey bacon club. We’ll stroll inside the arcade to catch a glimpse of famous Rookwood Pottery. Did you know you can ride an elevator to the 49th floor for a view of the entire city?
Next we walk to the Backstage Entertainment area, anchored by the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Our fourth food tasting is inside the Contemporary Art Center. This restaurant is brand new and features California style cuisine. We'll enjoy their take on avocado toast. It's the best in the city! While we're there, we may sneak a peak at one of the newest exhibits. Since the Contemporary Art center is free, you can return and browse at your leisure.
It’s time to catch the streetcar for our final two stops at Findlay Market, the oldest urban outdoor market in Ohio. We'll dine in a beautiful new restaurant that is a training ground for new chefs and restaurant servers. Our final stop is a local pastry shop featuring the best cookies in town. If you cannot eat one more bite, no worries. We can bag them to go. Afterwards, we will take a short tour through Findlay Market.
Our lovely adventure through the Queen City has come to a close. We will happily return you to our starting point or, now that you got the lay of the land, you can continue on your own. Either way, your local guide will be happy to share additional tips or answer any questions, so you can carry on with confidence!
